Maruti Suzuki India has confirmed that it will launch a new model in the third week of April 2022. While the company hasn’t yet revealed the name of the vehicle, it’s likely to be the new Maruti XL6 facelift. According to a fresh media report, the Indo-Japanese automaker will bring in the 2022 Maruti Ertiga facelift before the updated XL6. That means, the former will arrive by mid April. The new Ertiga will come with slightly revised styling and a few new features along with major engine mechanism updates.
The new Maruti Ertiga 2022 is reported to come with a new 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox instead of a 4-speed unit. With this update, the MPV will comply with the CAFÉ 2 (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) regulations that will be implemented in April 2022. The new 6-speed gearbox will also improve shift times and offer quicker responses. No changes will be made to its engine. The new Ertiga will continue to derive power from the 1.5L petrol engine with mild hybrid tech that’s good for 105bhp and 138Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard across the MPV model lineup.
Talking about the design changes, the new Ertiga facelift will feature a newly-designed grille as we have seen on the new Baleno. The spy images reveal that the headlamps, front and rear bumpers, alloy wheels and taillamps will be carried forward from the existing model. Interior details of the new 2022 Maruti Ertiga facelift are still under the wraps. Though, it’s likely to receive new interior trims and upholstery along with a few new features.
After the new Ertiga and XL6 facelifts, the next big launch from the Indo-Japanese automaker will be the second-generation Maruti Brezza. The compact SUV will come with several advanced goodies including a HUD unit, a factory-fitted sunroof, a 360 degree camera, connected car features, wireless phone charging and more.
