The long-awaited 2022 Maruti Celerio hatchback is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market on November 10, 2021. The company has already dispatched the new Celerio to dealerships for customer preview and dealer-level training purposes. Production of the car has already been commenced at the brand’s Manesar based plant.
Maruti Suzuki has officially started accepting pre-bookings for the 2022 Maruti Celerio. The new Celerio is claimed to be India’s most fuel efficient petrol car. It is expected to return close to 26kmpl of mileage, which is highest by any petrol powered model in our market. The new model will be based on the lightweight Heartect K platform that underpins the new WagonR, S-Presso and the Swift twins.
The lightweight platform will help the new Celerio to meet the latest crash test standards. Adding to it, it will also the new model to offer better power to weight ratio and higher fuel efficiency. The vehicle seems significantly bigger than the outgoing model, which should translate into more spacious cabin.
The 2022 Maruti Celerio comes with all-new design, featuring a new oval grille with honeycomb pattern with a chrome strip connecting the newly designed triangular shaped headlamps. The vehicle gets new fog lamp assembly with black surroundings, ORVMs with integrated blinkers, new alloys, bigger window area, long tapering roofline, and new wraparound tail-lights.
The new generation Celerio has also received all-new interior, as it features all-new dashboard and central console. It gets a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, power windows, new steering wheel, push button start/stop system, powered ORVMs and keyless entry.
The company has confirmed that the new Celerio is likely to receive a new 1.0-litre 3-cylnder K10C Dualjet petrol engine, which will be offered with manual as well as AMT gearbox options. In a press release, CV Raman, CTO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Powered by Next-Gen KSeries Dual Jet, Dual VVT Engine with first in segment Idle Start-Stop Technology, All-New Celerio will be the ‘MOSTFUEL-EFFICIENT PETROL CAR IN INDIA’.”
