Chinese electric carmaker, BYD (Build Your Dreams) has launched the all-new BYD e6 electric MPV in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 29.15 lakh, the new MPV is only offered as a commercial vehicle. At an additional payment of Rs 45,000, BYD India is also providing a 7kW charger.
BYD also has plans to launch the e6 pure electric MPV for private buyers; however, exact launch timeline is yet to be announced. Based on e-Platform, the new BYD e6 is basically a five-seater electric MPV. It features a 71.7kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that sends 95bhp & 180Nm to a single electric motor. The e-MPV is claimed to achieve a top speed of 130kmph.
BYD claims that the new e6 electric MPV is capable of regenerating energy from as low as 2kmph. The new MPV is claimed to offer a combined WLTC tested range of up to 415km. The range increases to 520km per charge on the WLTC city cycle. The MPV also supports DC fast charging that charges the battery from 30-80 percent in 35 minutes.
The BYD e6 electric MPV comes equipped with features like LED daytime running lights, LED tail-lights, 6 way electric adjustable driver and front passengers seats, leather upholstery for seats, etc. It gets a 10.1-nch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. The MPV also has a CN95 air filtration system.
The company hasn’t release the dimensions of the BYD e6 electric; however, it should be equivalent to the international spec model. It measures 4.69 meters in length, and offers a boot space of 580-litres. In terms of proportions, the e6 e-MPV is 4,695mm long, 1,810mm wide and 1,670mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,800mm. The MPV rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.
The MPV has several high-end safety & security features including 4 airbags, rear view camera, TPMS, ESP, Hill-start assist control, electronic parking brake, HBA, etc. BYD India is offering 3 years/1.25 lakh kms warranty on vehicle, 8 years/5 lakh kms and 8 years/1.5 lakh kms warranty on battery cell and motor respectively.
Initially, the new e6 electric MPV will be offered in eight cities only namely, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Chennai.
