Renault India has teased the new ARKANA 5-seater crossover on its social media pages with the text ‘We’re Ready.’ The teaser image shows the tail-lights and the rear profile of the Arakana. Adding to it, the teaser also mentions “#movember” with a caption “here’s your cue to book yourself in for a check-up. have you come across it?
For people not in the know, Renault is organising ‘Movember’ event that is meant to raise awareness of men’s health issues. It remains unclear if Renault is considering this crossover for our market or if it is just a post to promote the Movember movement.
The Renault Arkana was first introduced in Russia in 2019. It is already on sale in select international markets including Russia, South Korea and Europe.
The Renault Arkana is a mid-sized crossover, measuring 4,545mm in length, 1,820mm in width, 1,565mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,721mm. The new model has a ground clearance of 208mm, which is even higher than the Duster.
It is based on the CMF-B modular platform that also underpins the Clio. In fact, the next generations of the Duster and the Nissan Kicks will be designed and developed on this platform. The crossover shares features with the second generation Duster SUV on sale in Europe. It gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 9.3-inch digital instrument console, Bose sound-system, 360 degree parking camera, etc.
Powering the Arkana is a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers the India-spec Duster and the Kicks. This petrol engine produces 156PS of power and 250Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a CVT automatic gearbox with all-wheel-drive system as an optional.
