The model secured four stars for adult occupant protection and two stars for child occupant protection. The tested variant was equipped with dual airbags, ABS (antilock braking system) and Isofix anchorages as standard. Speaking to Autocar, Alejandro Furas, GNACP secretary general said that “the car (Brezza/Urban Cruiser) is not far away from a 5 star, there’s not much they need to do to achieved this”. He also revealed that globally car manufacturers have made changes over times to reduce production costs and offered required features to match the changing market equations. That why, the safety watchdogs tested the Brezza (Toyota Urban Cruiser) again.
Furas said that a few changes have been made to the SUV since the safety body tested the vehicle. One must note that GNCAP will update its test protocol by including ESC and active safety tech in July 2022. Now, the Maruti Brezza is ready to receive a major update next month (May 2022). This time around, the SUV is reported to come with 6 airbags and ESC (electronic stability control). The automaker will also make changes to its body shell that will further enhance its safety quotient.
With these aforementioned updates, the new 2022 Maruti Brezza is likely to achieve top safety rating in the crash tests. Though, the added safety features and other significant exterior and interior changes will make it slightly more expensive than the existing model. Currently, the sub-compact SUV comes within the price range of Rs 7.68 lakh – Rs 11.33 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
