2022 Maruti Ertiga New Vs Old – 7 Key Differences Explained

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga recently received an update in the country. The MPV’s new model comes with slightly improved design, a few new features and new-gen K-Series engine. Compared to its previous version, the new one is more powerful and fuel efficient. The new 2022 Maruti Ertiga prices start from Rs 8.35 lakh and go up to Rs 12.79 lakh.

While its automatic variants are available within the price range of Rs 10.99 lakh – Rs 12.79 lakh, the CNG models cost between Rs 10.44 lakh – Rs 11.54 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom. Here, we have explained 7 key differences between the new Maruti Ertiga and the old one.

New-Gen K-Series Engine

Major update comes in the form of the next-generation 1.5L petrol engine that’s claimed to offer “a refined driving experience” with “improved NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) and reduced emissions. The new Dualjet gasoline unit has two injectors per cylinder that provide greater control over fuel injection. It has been also benefited with start-stop technology that enhances its fuel economy. The new petrol engine dishes out a peak power of 103bhp at 6,000rpm and 136.8Nm of torque at 4,400rpm.

The New Maruti Ertiga 2022 has also been made available with 1.5L Dualjet petrol engine coupled to a factory-fitted CNG kit. The MPV delivers 100bhp with 136Nm while running on the petrol mode and 87bhp with 121.5Nm while running on CNG mode.

New Automatic Gearbox

High On Mileage

Compared to the old version, the new 2022 Maruti Ertiga offers higher fuel economy. Its manual variants are claimed to offer 20.51kmpl, while automatic models promise 20.30kmpl. The new Maruti Ertiga CNG is capable to do 26.11km/kg.

Minor Design Changes

Subtle cosmetic changes have been made to the MPV. The updated model features a newly-designed front grille with ‘winged’ chrome trim, new dual-tone alloy wheels and tailgate with chrome garnish.

Ertiga’s updated model lineup has been offered in two new colour schemes – Dignity Brown and Splendid Silver.

Premium Interior

Interior has been revised with sculpted dashboard with a new Metallic Teak Wooden finish and dual-tone seat fabric. The MPV gets a 7-inch new SmartPlay Pro infotainment system with an onboard voice assistant (activated with “Hi Suzuki” command) and the smartphone connectivity. The in-built Suzuki Connect offers over 40+ features for vehicle safety & security, status alerts, trips & driving behaviours and remote operations.

The new model can be remotely accessed via a compatible smartwatch and voice connectivity via Suzuki Connect. The list of features also includes auto headlamps with follow me home functionality, driver side auto window up with anti-pinch, cruise control, retractable key-operated ORVMs and many more goodies.

More Safety Features

Maruti Suzuki has equipped the new Ertiga with 4 airbags, hill hold assist and electronic stability program (ESP). Its standard safety kit includes rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and brake assist, dual front airbags, speed alert system, 2nd row Isofix child seat anchorage and driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder.
