Scheduled to launch on 23rd February 2022, the all-new Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback was recently caught during its TVC shoot. The model comes with significantly improved styling, upmarket interior and an AMT gearbox replacing the CVT automatic transmission. Similar to the existing model lineup up, the updated one will be spread across four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. All its variants will be powered by the 1.2L Dualjet naturally aspirated petrol engine boosted with mild hybrid technology. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard across the 2022 Maruti Baleno.
The hatchback’s new model will be high on features. It will be the first vehicle in its segment to offer a customizable Heads-Up Display (HUD) and a 360 degree camera. The automaker will also equip a new 9.0-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system called – SmartPlay Pro+. The unit will be compatible to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with the Alexa voice commands support.
The new Baleno will also have wireless phone charging and connected car tech. Its dashboard design will be inspired by the new Suzuki S-Cross that recently made its global debut. The new flat-bottom steering will be borrowed from the Swift. The new-generation Baleno will miss out a digital instrument cluster. Safety fitments such as electronic stability program (ESP), cruise control and 6 airbags are likely to be reserved for higher trims. While the new 2022 Maruti Baleno will continue to underpin the same platform, the automaker will make a few changes to its body panels.
Compared to the current model, the new version has wider stance along with a flatter, newly-designed grille, revised headlamps with DRLs and bumpers, a new set of alloy wheels and new LED taillamps. Buyers will have new colour options to choose from including Luxe Beige, Celestial Blue, Pearl Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Opulent Red and Splendid Silver.
