We have seen several camouflaged/semi-camouflaged prototypes of the new-generation Mahindra Scorpio SUV till date. Now, the model is in its final testing phase and slated to launch near around 2022 festive season. The SUV’s new model lineup will be made available in 6 and 7-seats layout options. There will be captain seats for the second row occupants along with individual armrests and front facing seats for the third row passengers.
Interior of the new Scorpio will take a big leap in terms of features and material quality. For connectivity purpose, the SUV will offer an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Alexa voice commands.
Several advanced goodies will also be on offer a twin-pod analogue instrument console, a 360 degree camera, a flat bottom steering wheel, connected car tech, dual zone climate control, a single pane sunroof, electronic stability control, cruise control and rear disc brakes.
Unlike the current generation, the new one will be designed on the new GEN-3 platform that underpins the Thar. The new architecture will make the new Scorpio lighter and safer than before. The SUV will have more powerful and refined engines under the hood. It can be had either with a 2.0L mStallion turbo petrol or a 2.2L turbo diesel motor delivering power worth 130bhp/160bhp and 155bhp respectively. Transmission choices will include manual and automatic units.
This year, the home-grown automaker is planning to launch the eKUV100 and unveil concepts of its three upcoming electric SUVs. Speculations are on rife that the new Mahindra EV model lineup will include the e-XUV300 compact SUV, e-XUV700 mid-size SUV and e-XUV900 SUV Coupe. All three EV concepts will make global debut in July 2022.
