2022 Maruti Alto Testing Begins; Looks Bigger, Taller

Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch a new range of cars including new generations of existing models in the next couple of years. The company will launch the new Celerio in the coming days, which will be followed by a new Alto, Baleno facelift, new Vitara Brezza, 5-door Jimny and an all-new mid-sized SUV.

Adding to it, MSIL is planning to introduce the updated versions of the Ertiga and the XL6. Moreover, CNG versions of the existing cars will also arrive in the next few months. The next big launch from Maruti Suzuki is the next generation Alto, which has been spotted on public road by Youtube Channel, Wanderlust Shashank.

2022 Maruti Alto Spy Video

The latest spy images reveal interesting details about the 2022 Maruti Alto. Compared to the existing model, the new gen Alto will be significantly bigger and more spacious. The spotted model looks longer, wider and taller than the existing model, which should help MSIL to create more space inside the cabin. The new model will be designed and developed on Suzuki’s new lightweight HEARTECT platform that also underpins the new WagonR, S-Presso and the upcoming Celerio.

The 2022 Maruti Alto will come with all-new design; however, the overall shape of the car remains largely identical to the existing model. In fact, the front design is similar to the current car; however, the size is bigger. It gets a more prominent front grille, big sweptback headlamps and sculpted hood. The vehicle could also receive C-shaped foglamp enclosure, which is probably hiding under the camouflage. The top-spec model could also receive LED DRLs.

The new 2022 Maruti Alto is also expected to offer bigger boot and more legroom for the second-row occupants. The new small car will also receive upgraded interior with new colour scheme and more premium features. Expect the new model to get a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a semi-digital instrument console, automatic AC, etc.

It will get dual airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert, seat belt reminder and rear parking sensors as standard. The new model will be lighter than the current car, which should improve its efficiency. It is likely to be offered with the existing 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine. The company could also add the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, which was earlier offered on the Alto K10. The small car will also receive CNG powered model.
