2022 Hyundai Tucson SUV In India – Key Features Explained

The new-generation Hyundai Tucson SUV made its global debut in September 2020. The model will be first launched in the US, followed by other global markets. The SUV comes with sportier and bolder design, upmarket interior and hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Now, the company has started testing the new 2022 Hyundai Tucson in India and its first prototype was recently caught on camera near the company’s Tamil Nadu based facility.

The spotted test mule was heavily camouflaged covering most of its design details. Though, one can notice the raked front windshield, squared-off wheel arches with 18-inch dual-tone wheels, sloping roofline and sharper body panels. Based on the brand’s global Sensuous Sportiness design language, the new Hyundai Tucson 2022 carries a parametric grille and unique triangular headlamps nestled in the front bumper. While the strong character lines continue on the side profile, the beltline has been raised.

The rear section has been revised with the newly-designed taillamps, which are connected via a slim strip of LED lights running across the tailgate. The signature logo has been embedded in the glass instead of the sheetmetal at the rear. Compared to the previous generation, the new model is longer, wider and taller. Interior of the new 2022 Hyundai Tucson has been modernized with the 10.3-inch dual-screen infotainment display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, two device Bluetooth connectivity, digital instrument cluster, air quality monitoring system, 64 colour ambient lighting and many more goodies.

As mentioned above, the new Hyundai Tucson 2022 comes with the hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The hybrid version comes with the 1.6L inline-four turbo engine, a 44.2kW electric motor and 1.49kWh battery pack delivering combined power of 226bhp and 350Nm of torque. The plug-in hybrid model has the same turbo four engine with the bigger 13.8kWh battery and a 66.9kW electric motor. Hyundai’s 2.5L, 4-cylinder, inline engine is standard across the model lineup. It delivers power worth 187bhp and 241Nm of torque.
