It is no secret that Ford is working on the next-gen Endeavour SUV, which has already been spotted testing in Australia. In the global markets, the SUV is sold as the Ford Everest. The 2022 Ford Endeavour has been spotted testing in Europe. This time, the SUV was caught in production-ready body panels hiding behind the camouflage.
The spy images reveal that the 2022 Ford Endeavour is heavily related to the Ranger pickup. It shares the front fascias and the familiar C-shaped daytime running lamps from pickup. The spotted model has wheels with six lug nuts that’s the sign of a rugged SUV. It also has the high ground clearance with generous suspension travel.
The 2022 Ford Endeavour comes with a bolder design, which should help the American automaker to position it better against the competition. It gets new tailgate and taillights, wider air-intake, flattish bonnet, new fog lamp housing, raked windshield, prominent roof rail, blacked alloys and large greenhouse area. While the external sheet metal is new, the core body structure of the 2022 Ford Endeavour is expected to be carried over from the existing model.
The spotted model has yellow sticker on the corner of the windshield, which suggest that the vehicle could be a plug-in hybrid variant. The extra fuel cap for the charging port is not visible, and could hide behind the heavy covers. It could also be the mild-hybrid variant instead of a PHEV.
Australian media reports that the 2022 Ford Endeavour will feature the longer dash-to-front-axle ratio, similar to the 2022 Ranger Pick-up. This could be done to accommodate the option of a turbo-diesel V6. It is reported that the new Endeavour will come in 3 engine options – two diesel and a new petrol plug-in hybrid. It will also receive a new off-road focused Wildtrack X variant.
It will get a 2.0L twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing 210bhp of power and 500Nm of torque. There will be a new 3.0-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder diesel engine which will produce 250bhp and 600Nm of torque. This engine currently powers the American-spec Ford F-150. The SUV will also receive a 2.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with a plug-in hybrid system. It is reportedly to produce around 270bhp of power and 680Nm of torque.
