2021 MG Hector Petrol CVT Launch Tomorrow – Price Expectations

2021 MG Hector model lineup will be further expanded with the addition of new CVT automatic variants. The carmaker has confirmed that the prices of the MG Hector petrol CVT will be announced on February 11, 2021. At present, the SUV comes with three engine options – 143hp, 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol with a 48V mild hybrid tech and 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel.

The petrol motor with mild hybrid technology is claimed to deliver 20Nm extra torque at low speeds and 12% more fuel efficiency than the petrol motor. All variants of the SUV are available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is reserved for the 1.5L petrol models. The new MG Hector petrol CVT will be sold alongside the DCT variants. It’s expected to be more frugal than DCT unit.

The new CVT automatic transmission will be exclusively offered on the top-end Super and Sharp trims. Compared to the DCT-equipped model, the new MG Hector petrol CVT variants are likely to be priced around Rs 50,000 – Rs 60,000 premium. Currently, the SUV model lineup is available in the price range of Rs 12.89 lakh – Rs 18.32 lakh. While the petrol models cost between Rs 12.89 lakh – Rs16.99 lakh, the diesel variants are priced from Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 18.32 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. The 2021 MG Hector facelift witnessed a few noticeable changes inside and out. On the exterior, the SUV received newly-designed grille with new finish, revised front and rear scuff plates, larger 18-inch alloy wheels and black appliqué running between the taillamps.  A new Starry Blue colour scheme has also been added to the model lineup.

The all-black interior theme has been replaced with the lighter, dual-tone Champagne and Black scheme. The SUV gets a 10.4-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with Hinglish voice assistance, wireless phone charging, an auto dimming inside rear view mirror, ventilated front seats, a 360 degree camera, auto climate control, connected car tech and more.
