Renault India is all set to foray into the highly competitive sub-4 meter SUV space with the Kiger this month. While its prices will be announced on 15th February, deliveries will begin in March 2021. Bookings for the model have already been commenced at dealership level.
Some dealers are accepting pre-orders at a token amount range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000. The carmaker has confirmed that the Renault Kiger will be more affordable than the Nissan Mangite that currently costs from Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The entry-level variant of the Kiger is likely to be priced as low as Rs 5 lakh and the top-end model will cost around Rs 8 lakh. The model will be made available with two engines – 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0L turbocharged petrol. Read – Renault Kiger Vs Nissan Magnite
While the former makes 72bhp with 96Nm, the latter one is good enough for 100bhp and 160Nm. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual (standard), an AMT (naturally aspirated petrol only) and a CVT automatic (turbo-petrol only). The same powertrains do duty in the Nissan Magnite.
Besides engines, the Renault Kiger shares its underpin (CMF A+) platform with its cousin – Magnite. It’s claimed to offer “urban modernity with agility”. The Kiger has also been equipped with a 4-speaker, 4-tweeter Arkamys audio system, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, push-button start, keyless entry, reverse parking camera and many more goodies.
Some of its key design elements include front grille with 3D graphic finish and honeycomb-shaped chromed effects, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, sporty bumper, black diamond-cut finish alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, pronounced shoulder lines, sporty rear window, sloping boot door, aluminum finish skid plate and new LED taillamps with glossy black inserts.
