The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio is currently in its final testing phase. The hatchback was originally planned to launch in early 2021. Though, it has been delayed multiple times due to different reason. Now, the new Celerio is reported to see a release in the month of November. The hatchback will also ditch its existing platform for Suzuki’s lightweight Heartect architecture. Under the hood, the new Maruti Celerio 2021 will continue to feature the 69bhp, 1.0L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This time around, the hatch will also get the WagonR’s 1.2L petrol engine that generates a peak power of 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options will be similar to the WagonR – 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. The hatchback model lineup could also be offered with the factory-fitted CNG kit.
The squarish and tall stance will be replaced with angular design elements. The new 2021 Maruti Celerio features a flattish-oval grille with honeycomb pattern, triangular headlamps connected via a chrome strip, a more upright nose, new fog lamp assembly and revised front bumper with contrast black bits. The lift-type door handles are replaced with the pull-type units. The hatch might also come with the 13-inch alloy wheels. The angular design elements continue at the rear end. It features wraparound taillamps and a neatly designed bumper. Some of its features will be carried over from the other Maruti Suzuki cars including the infotainment unit, seat upholstery, control buttons, window switches and wing mirrors.
