2022 Maruti Alto Testing Begins; 1st Spy Image Is Here

Maruti Suzuki has begun testing the new-generation Alto hatchback in the country.  If reports are to be believed, the new model will make its world debut in January 2022 in Japan. Its Indian launch will happen sometime next year. The spotted test mule, which was heavily camouflaged, managed to cover most of the design details. Though, the new 2022 Maruti Alto is likely to witness comprehensive cosmetic changes and feature upgrades along with the lighter Heartech platform. The new Maruti Alto 2022 will retain the original upright and boxy stance with the short overhangs. It’s likely to receive a newly-designed grille, revised headlamps, tweaked bumper and new taillamp cluster. The carmaker might increase its height, while length and width will remain unchanged. As mentioned above, noticeable changes are expected to be made inside the cabin. The new Alto is likely to come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Features such as a new instrument cluster, keyless entry, all four power windows and steering mounted controls might also be on offer. The new 2022 Maruti Alto could also be better in terms of safety. Besides the more rigid platform, the hatchback will get ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), dual airbags, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system and driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder as standard fitments. The existing 769cc, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine might continue to be on offer. The motor pushes out a peak power of 48bhp and 69Nm of torque. Rumour has it the new Maruti Alto 2022 could be made available with the SHVS mild hybrid technology and CNG kit option. The new model is likely to witness a minor price hike.
