2021 Mahindra XUV500 Goes On Off-Road Testing; Launch Soon

The latest spy pictures of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 has come from Solang Valley in Himachal Pradesh, where the vehicle is going through tough terrain testing under extreme weather conditions. Though, you can still notice the newly-designed headlamps with DRLs, slightly tweaked front bumper, flap-type door handles and significantly revised and wider rear section. Compared to the current generation, the new one will be packed with more advanced goodies including level 1 autonomous technology (ADAS – advanced driver assistance system).

The new XUV500 will offer Mercedes-like touchscreen infotainment system, segment’s largest full screen MID, a 3D panoramic vision and an eyelid tracking mechanism. The list will also include a new flat bottom steering wheel, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, chrome lined AC vents, connected car technology, wireless charging and more. One of the biggest changes will be made to its underpinning. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will sit on a new, stiffer monocoque architecture that has already been used in the new Thar. The SUV’s new model will be offered with two engines – a new 2.0L direct-injection turbo petrol and a 2.2L mHawk diesel.

Official launch date and details of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 are yet to be revealed by the carmaker. Though, it’s reported to hit roads in the month of April. It will be placed against the cars like MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Tata Safari.  The latter one is due for 22nd February, 2021. After the second-generation XUV500, the home-grown carmaker will bring in the all-new Scorpio SUV with comprehensively revised design, interior and a new engine setup.
