Mahindra XUV300 Sportz Spotted; More Powerful Than Sonet, Venue

Mahindra & Mahindra showcased the performance-oriented, sportier version of the XUV300 subcompact SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. Called the Mahindra XUV300 Sportz, the model was recently caught on camera during its test rounds in Chennai. The test mule was heavily camouflage covering most of its design details. The new Sportz variant will carry different body graphics along with sporty black treatment inside and out over the standard model.

One of the biggest changes will come in the form of the new 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo mStallion petrol engine. The motor has been tuned for producing a peak power of 130bhp and 230Nm of torque. It will make the Mahindra XUV300 Sportz the most powerful and torquiest vehicle in its segment. Its arch rivals – Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue with 1.0L turbocharged petrol motor generate 120bhp and 175Nm. The sportier XUV300 variant will be offered with the 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options. The automatic unit will be sourced from Aisin.

Design bits such as gloss black finish around the headlamps, grille and fog lamps, and black side body cladding will add more to its sporty appeal. While the showcased model was assembled with 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, the test mule has been fitted with all black alloys. The Mahindra XUV300 Sportz will have all-black interior theme. It’s likely to be based on the range-topping W8 (O) trim, packed with all bells and whistles.
