We have reported earlier that Honda will introduce a new hybrid vehicle in India in 2021. According to a fresh media report, the Japanese carmaker is planning to bring in the Honda City hybrid sedan in May or June, 2021. It will be positioned above the regular City model and is expected to cost around Rs 15 lakh – Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
Talking about the powertrain, the Honda City hybrid will come with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and two electric motors. The gasoline unit will be good enough for 97bhp and 127Nm of torque. One electric motor will be coupled to the petrol engine and work as ISG (Integrated Starter Generator). The other one will deliver power to the front wheels via a single, fixed-ratio gearbox. Its power and torque output stand at 108bhp and 253Nm respectively.
The same powertrain does duty in the global-spec new Honda Jazz. The Honda City Hybrid will come with three driving modes – Electric drive, Hybrid drive and Engine drive. Its mileage figure will be over 27kmpl. While the petrol engine and electric motor work together to optimize power and fuel economy in Hybrid drive mode, the sedan run on high speed only on the petrol engine. The Electric Drive mode is good for low-speed cruising when power is supplied via electric motor only. Check Out – Leaked Pictures of 2022 Honda Civic Sedan

The sedan also come with Honda Sensing suite that includes autonomous emergency braking, lane centering assist, lane keeping assist, automatic high-beam and adaptive cruise control.
