The 11th generation Honda Civic sedan is ready to debut in its production avatar in the first quarter of this year. Ahead of its official unveiling, the pictures of the sedan have been leaked on the web. The higher variant features differently designed headlamps (possibly with LED elements), black wheels and door handles, black side mirrors caps, dual exhaust setup and chunky trunk lid spoiler. The lower trim of the 2022 Honda Civic sedan gets the conventional headlamp units, body-coloured (White) ORVMs and exhaust hidden under the rear bumper.
Compared to the concept, which was revealed in November 2020, the production-ready model looks slightly different. It has newly-designed fog lamp assembly. Some of its other key highlights include black plastic cladding on the bumper and horizontally placed split taillamps. Interior of the 2022 Honda Civic sedan is still a mystery to us. Though, it’s likely to be packed with several new Civic-first technologies such as a new 9-inch full-HD free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, an all-digital driver’s meter cluster and more.
On the safety front, the new Honda Civic 2022 will offer an upgraded suite of Honda Sensing safety and driver assistive technologies and newly designed airbags. The sedan will have Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure with better occupant and pedestrian collision protection. Globally, the new-generation model is likely to be offered with the 1.5L VTEC turbo petrol engine paired to a CVT automatic gearbox. This time around the Civic might also be made available with Honda i-MMD hybrid powertain that’s introduced on the Honda Fit. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via an e-CVT transmission.
One must note that the 2022 Honda Civic sedan won’t come to India. In order to consolidate its operations, Honda Cars India stopped production at its Greater Noida based plant with capacity of 1.8 lakh units. The facility served as production hub for the Civic sedan and CR-V SUV, which were phased out from the market last year.
