Korean automaker, Hyundai is all set to launch the much-awaited new-gen 2020 Hyundai i20 hatchback in the Indian market in the next 1-2 months. The new model has already been caught testing several times on Indian roads. The new i20 comes with all-new design and better equipped cabin along with a set of new petrol and diesel engine options. DCT Gearbox with 1.0L turbo petrol

The new Hyundai i20 will receive the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Venue and the Kia Sonet. In the global markets, this engine offers two states of tunes – 99bhp/172 and 118bhp/172Nm. The India-spec model will also receive the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. In fact, new i20 with 1.0L engine and DCT has recently been caught testing in India.

1.5L diesel

The new-gen 2020 Hyundai i20 will also receive the new 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Venue, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. While powering the Venue, this engine produces 99bhp and 240Nm of torque. However, Sonet also gets the diesel automatic option with 118bhp/250Nm and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen

The 2020 Hyundai i20 will also receive the new 10.25-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, which we have already seen on the new Creta and the Sonet. This infotainment is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, Navigation, etc. Adding to it, the new i20 will also get the Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology.

iMT Gearbox

With 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the new i20 will also get the new 6-speed iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission). The new iMT gearbox has clutch-by-wire system that removes the need for a clutch pedal. There is a sensor in the manual gear lever to find out when the driver is changing gear to engage the clutch. Hyundai claims that this system is more cost efficient than AMTs and other automatic gearboxes.

Bose Premium Sound System

Similar to the Kia Sonet, the India-spec new i20 could receive the Bose premium sound system with 7/8-speakers and a sub-woofer.
