Tata PRIMA Truck Racing Championship 2017 Concludes

Auto brands like WABCO, JK Tyre, Castrol and Cummins partnered with Tata Motors for the 4th season of the Tata PRIMA Truck Racing Championship.

Tata Motors recently hosted the 4th season of ‘T1 Prima Truck Racing’ championship at the Budh International Circuit. Organised by Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC), it is India’s only truck racing championship which is conducted in compliance with the guidelines of British Truck Racing Association (BRTA). The 4th season kicked off on Saturday with finalists shortlisted for the final competition on Sunday. The championship was divided into three categories, Pro Class, Super Class and Champion Class. However the highlight of the event was the new range of Tata Prima trucks. In the Pro Class, 12 international participants competed against each other in 8 and 15 lap races. There were six teams in this category with professional truck racers from FIA’s European Truck Racing Championship who competed against British drivers from British Truck Racing Association (BRTA).

For the Super Class race, 10 Indian truck racers were selected from 3,300 nominations after a stern physical and mental assessment. The 29 year old Pitamber of UP emerged winner in the Super Class category of T1 PRIMA Truck Racing Championship Season 4. He was trailed by Shivnihal Singh of UP and Gurujant Singh of UP, claiming 2nd and 3rd spot. Mohabat Singh of Rajasthan clocked the fastest lap at 1:50.677 and the winner of Super Class category, Pitamber was at 1:50.950.

On the other hand the Champion Class gave participants from season 3 another chance to come out a winner. Winner from the previous season, Nagarjuna successfully defended his title and was crowned champion once again at the T1 PRIMA Truck Racing Championship Season 4 with fastest lap at 1:50.562. Malkeet Singh of UP clinched the title of first runner up and the second runner up Bhag Chand from Rajasthan clocked the fastest time at 1:50.597. India’s only truck racing event witnessed some of the most prominent celebrities in India playing host at the event. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, Garima Yajnik, Siddharth Mahadevan, KK and young talent from Saregamapa Little Champs were present to encourage the participants.
