2017 Force Gurkha Facelift receives minor cosmetic upgrades along with a BSIV engine.

Force Motors has introduced the facelifted version of its popular Force Gurkha EOV (Extreme Off-road Vehicle) range in India. Available in two variants – 5-door Xpedition and 3-door Xplorer – the 2017 Force Gurkha has been priced at Rs 8.38 lakh and Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The updated model receives minor cosmetic upgrades inside and out. However, the major change comes in the form the BSIV complaint engine.

At the heart of the 2017 Force Gurkha facelift is the same Mercedes IM 616-derived 2.6-litre inter-cooled engine with direct injection technology. This turbocharged motor is now calibrated to meet BSIV emission standards. It can develop a top power of 85bhp at 3,200rpm and 230Nm of torque. For performing transmission duties, the SUV gets new G-28 5-speed all-synchromesh gearbox.

2017 Force Gurkha Facelift

Coming to the exterior updates, the 2017 model year receives Mercedes G wagon-inspired design with both soft-top and hard-top roof option. Features such as steel bumpers with fog lamps and high water wading capability enhance its off-road capabilities. The car also gets all-new front grille and bumper, headlights with additional rectangular lamps

The 2017 Force Gurkha sits on a new C-in-C chassis frame, which is welded via robotic welding technique. The company claims that the chassis welding technology offers excellent strength in bending and torsion. The SUV runs on steel alloy wheels fitted with 16-inch all-terrain tyres.

Cabin of the new Force Gurkha facelift looks largely identical to the old model. Though, features like new 4-spoke steering wheel, gear knob and revised floor console with cubby holes mark a difference. For the first time, the vehicle gets HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) unit.  While the 3-door version is based on 2,650mm of wheelbase, the 5-door version comes with 2,750mm wheelbase.
