Force Motors has launched the new 2017 Force Gurkha with a new BSIV-compliant engine. Besides this engine, the vehicle gets a few cosmetic changes and a new chassis and suspension mechanism. It is available in three variants – Xpedition 4×2, Xplorer 4×4 (3-door) and Xplorer 4×4 (5-door). While the base variant is priced at Rs 8.45 lakh, the range-topping model is tagged at Rs 11.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new model gets a new chassis with multi-link coil spring suspension. It is powered by a retuned version of the 2.6-litre diesel engine, which is now BS-IV compliant. This engine is capable of producing 85bhp of power at 3,200rpm and 230Nm of torque between 1,400-2,400rpm. A five-speed manual gearbox comes as standard. Both 4×2 and 4×4 versions are on offer.
The Xplorer variant is available in both hard-top and soft top versions, along with an option of three-door or five-door. It also offers an option to choose between five or seven seater along with a permanent four-wheel-drive system. The base Xpedition variant is a five-door model, which can seat up to 9 people. It is only available with rear-wheel-drive system. While the Xplorer variant sits under 4 meter in length (measuring 3,992mm), the Xpedition measures 4,342mm in length. In fact, the wheelbase of the Xpedition model is 350mm longer than the Xplorer.
The company has also made some styling changes to the Gurkha to offer a refreshing look. It now features a new front and rear steel bumpers, new body graphics, clear lens headlamps and a full-length slip-resistant footboard. The 2017 Force Gurkha is available in four exterior paint jobs – Supreme White, Copper Red, Matt Black and Moonbeam Silver.
