To be launched as a replacement for Punto, the Fiat X6H could be named Palio globally.

The all-new Fiat X6H (codename) hatchback, the successor of the Punto, has been under test for sometime now. While its Brazil launch is reportedly to happen in May 2017, the vehicle might have its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. Rumour has it that Fiat’s all-new hatchback could be named ‘Palio’, which is a globally popular nameplate. As a reminder, the Italian carmaker introduced the Fiat Palio in India in 1999, and discontinued it in 2010.

Design of the all-new Fiat X6H seems inspired from the European-spec Fiat Tipo. There is no official confirmation about the India launch of the X6H (Palio) hatchback. Speculations on rife that it might make its first appearance in India at the 2018 Auto Expo. We will update you on its exact launch date as soon as Fiat announces it.

he X6H will come as a replacement to the Punto hatchback. Since it will face challenge from cars like Tata Tiago, Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Swift, we expect it to carry price tag ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.

2017 Fiat X6H (Palio) Engine Specifications

The X6H might borrow its engine lineup from the current global-spec Punto hatchback – i.e. a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre Multi-Jet diesel. Fiat might also offer a more powerful version of the hatchback with a 1.4-litre T-Jet turbo petrol motor. There could be a 5-speed manual and an automatic units for performing transmission duties. Mileage figures of the new Fiat hatchback are likely to be higher than the current model.

Some of the design and styling elements, as mentioned above, will be carried over from the new-generation Fiat Tipo. The spy images reveal that the hatchback receives full body work, proper lighting package as well as alloy wheels. It gets narrow, thin headlamps integrated with the front grille and horizontal tail lamps. The car features more aggressive front and rear bumpers with multiple cuts and creases. The pronounced wheel arches have been fitted to 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear profile sports a spoiler with integrated brake light.

If reports are to be believed, the hatchback might sit on a 2.53m of wheelbase. The long wheelbase will ensure a spacious cabin and large boot space. Inside, the car might have the Tipo-inspired multi functionn steering wheel. The list of features might also include touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity for voice calling, reverse parking sensors and camera, cruise control, rear AC vents, etc.
