Maruti Suzuki has planned several updated and new-generation models along with the all-new products that will arrive in coming years. While the new-generation Celerio will be the next big launch from the Indo-Japanese carmaker, it’s reported to bring in the updated XL6 and second-generation Vitara Brezza in early 2022. Here’re details of the two upcoming UVs (Utility Vehicles) that we know so far.
New Maruti XL6
If reports are to be believed, Maruti Suzuki will give an update to the XL6 MPV in early 2022 (possibly in January). This time around, the carmaker might bring in its 7-seater version that’s already on sale in the Indonesian market as Suzuki XL7. It has a bench seat for the second row passengers along with slightly larger infotainment unit, IRVM with rear camera display and a foldable armrest for the middle row occupants. Design and styling of the XL7 is exactly similar to the XL6. Though, it gets contrast black roof, XL7 badge on the tailgate and rear spoiler differentiate it from the XL6. The MPV’s updated model is likely to receive new alloys and slightly wider tyres. The 2022 Maruti XL6 could be offered with the same 105bhp, 1.5L K15B petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options.
New Maruti Vitara Brezza
The second-generation Vitara Brezza might hit showrooms in the first quarter of 2022. The subcompact SUV will witness comprehensive changes in terms of design, features and engine mechanism. While there is no official word on the same, the 2022 Maruti Vitara Brezza is likely to come with the 1.5L, 4-cylinder K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine with stronger hybrid technology. It will feature larger battery pack and a more powerful electric motor. The existing 4-speed automatic gearbox could be replaced with a 6-speed automatic unit. A 5-speed manual transmission will remain standard across the model lineup. The compact SUV will also switch to the Heartect platform and is reported to come with the factory-fitted sunroof.
