Hyundai Casper Launched In South Korea; More Details

After releasing the exterior and interior images, Hyundai has finally launched the new Casper micro SUV in South Korea. The new Hyundai Casper has received over 12,000 bookings in a single day. In fact, the South Korean President has also ordered one.

It was speculated that the new Hyundai Casper will arrive in our market; however, new media reports claim that the small SUV is specifically designed for the Korean market. In the home market, the Casper is available at a starting price of 13,850,000 won (approx INR 8.6 lakh) which goes up to 18,700,000 won (around INR 11.65 lakh) for the top-end Inspiration variant.

Hyundai Casper design Revealed

The top-of-the-line Hyundai Casper comes equipped with high-end features like 17-inch alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and the segment-first ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). In fact, Hyundai is also offering sunroof as an optional feature.

Dimensionally, the new Hyundai Casper is 3,595mm in length, 1,595mm in width and 1,575mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.4 meters. It is based on the brand’s K1 compact car platform that underpins the Hyundai Santro and the Grand i10 Nios. It is smallest Hyundai, as it is shorter and narrower than the Santro.

The new Hyundai Casper is claimed to offer practical cabin with front and rear seats can be folded down to turn into a small camper. The second row of seats can slide fore and aft by 160mm. The rear seats can also be folded down completely to raise the luggage carrying capacity. Adding to it, the second row seats can recline by up to 39 degrees. With sliding forward the rear seats, the Hyundai Casper can increase the cargo space to 301 litres.

The new Hyundai Casper’s touchscreen infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of features, the micro SUV gets, digital instrument console, connected car tech, keyless entry, engine start/stop button, adjustable headrest, reverse camera, etc.

Hyundai Casper Interior

It comes equipped with 7 airbags and a host of driver and safety assistance systems including lane-keeping assist, a forward-collision warning assist, high-beam assist and adaptive cruise control. The Korean-spec Casper is offered with two engine options – a 76bhp, 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a new 100bhp, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. Both engines will be paired to a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
