2 New Maruti Suzuki CNG Cars Ready For Launch

Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce CNG versions of its two popular models – Baleno hatchback and Brezza subcompact SUV. One must note that the official launch date and details of both CNG cars are yet to be revealed. As per the leaked documents, the Maruti Baleno CNG will come with the 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine coupled to a factory-fitted CNG kit. It’s likely to be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox only.

The CNG setup will deliver a peak power of 76bhp and 98.5Nm of torque. Its power and torque outputs are slightly lesser than the regular petrol motor that’s good enough for 89bhp and 113Nm. The Baleno CNG mileage will be around 30km/kg. The hatchback’s regular petrol model with manual and AMT gearbox offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.35kmpl and 22.94kmpl respectively.

The Maruti Brezza CNG is likely to be made available in 6 variants. Interestingly, it will be the first SUV in India to come with factory-fitted CNG kit. The SUV will use the same 1.5L K15C Dualjet petrol engine with the CNG kit, returning power around 87bhp. It can be had with either a manual or an automatic gearbox.

At present, the Brezza model lineup comes within the price range of Rs 7.99 lakh – Rs 12.30 lakh (all, ex-showroom). Its CNG variants are expected to be priced around Rs 75,000 more premium than its standard petrol counterparts.
