A new media report claims that Jeep has started developing the next gen Renegade and Compass SUVs for global markets. These two models will receive significant changes, as both models in new avatar will be developed with Stellantis’ new strategic plan for electrification. Both models will be based on new platforms and will be larger than the outgoing models. Adding to it, the new SUVs will receive pure electric versions.
It is reported that the new generation Jeep Compass will first go on sale in Europe. It will be based on the STLA Medium platform and is scheduled to be introduced by the end of 2023. The new STLA Medium architecture will allow Compass to achieve 100% EV mechanical package. The report claims that the new Jeep Compass EV will have a range of up to 640km, depending on the version, and powers between 170bhp and 244bhp.
The new platform will also be compatible with four-wheel-drive layout. The new gen Jeep Compass will continue to target global markets, which suggests that it will also be offered with traditional diesel and gasoline engines in some markets. The India-spec model is most likely to be offered with petrol and diesel engine options.
The Jeep Renegade will follow in the footsteps of the Compass and will also receive major upgrades. With the introduction of new Avenger, the Renegade will no longer the brand’s smallest SUV. The new-gen model will grow in size, and will offer more space inside the cabin. The new Renegade will be based on the STLA small platform.
While the new Jeep Compass will retain the conventional design, the next-gen Jeep Renegade will further reinforce its signature retro feel. The SUV will retain the square format and rugged design. It is likely to have 100% electric versions with up to 240bhp and 4×4 traction option. Similar to the Compass, the new Renegade will be offered with petrol and diesel engine options. The new-gen Renegade is expected to be launched in 2025.
