2 New Cars Coming Tomorrow – All Key Details

MG will unveil its new 3-door Comet electric car for the Indian market tomorrow (i.e. 19th April, 2023). Its prices are likely to be announced in the next couple of months. It will be positioned against the Tata Tiago EV. On the other hand, Tata Motors will introduce its third CNG model – the Altroz iCNG. The hatchback will come with the factory-fitted CNG kit and take on the Maruti Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG. Let’s take a look at all key details of both upcoming models.

MG Comet EV Price

The Comet will be the smallest EV in India that will be based on SAIC’s GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) born-EV architecture. Its overall length, width and height stand at 2974mm, 1505mm and 1631mm respectively. The EV has a wheelbase of 2010mm and comes with four-seats arrangement. Powertrain details of the MG Comet EV are yet to be revealed. Though, it’s reported to use a 20kWh battery pack that will be sourced from Tata AutoComp. Its electric range will be around 250km (iCAT-certified). The small EV is likely to have a single electric motor fitted at the rear axle. It will deliver power close to 45bhp. Tata Altroz iCNG

Tata Altroz CNG

Tata Altroz CNG features a 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine and a factory-fitted CNG kit. In CNG mode, the setup delivers a claimed power of 77bhp and 97Nm of torque. The regular petrol version offers power worth 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. Mileage figure of the Altroz CNG is expected to similar to the Tiago and Tigor CNG – i.e. 26.49km/kg. Unlike other CNG models, Tata’s new CNG hatchback comes with a dual-cylinder setup (30litres each) placed under the boot floor. This arrangement doesn’t eat much of boot space.
