16 Toyota Cars For India By 2023 – Report

Toyota India is all set to launch the Urban Cruiser subcompact SUV in September, 2020. Official bookings have already been commenced across the country. The carmaker has also planned the Toyota Fortuner and Innova Crysta facelifts that might hit roads by the end of this year or early next year. According to a latest report, the Japanese carmaker is planning to expand its Indian product portfolio with a range of new models. The company might have up to 16 vehicles in its lineup by 2022-23.

Currently, Toyota India offers five models, namely, Yaris sedan, Camry executive sedan, Innova Crysta MPV, Fortuner SUV and Vellfire luxury MPV. Under its partnership with Maruti Suzuki, the carmaker offers the Baleno-based Glanza hatchback and Vitara Brezza-based Urban Cruiser subcompact SUV. In coming months, Toyota will bring in the Ertiga-based MPV and Ciaz-based mid-size sedan. Besides this, the Japanese carmaker is working on the premium compact SUV with Maruti Suzuki that will be put up against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

2021 Toyota Hilux Specs

If reports are to be believed, Toyota is considering its globally popular Hilux pickup truck for the Indian market. Based on the IMV (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle) platform, the lifestyle pickup (global-spec) is offered with three engines – a new 201bhp, 2.8L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel, a 2.4L turbo diesel and a 2.7L petrol. The company might also bring in the Toyota RAV4 SUV that underpins the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform.

While globally the Toyota RAV4 comes with multiple engine-gearbox options, the India-spec model is likely to be offered with a hybrid powertrain. The setup might include a 218bhp, 2.5L Atkinson-cycle petrol motor with a strong hybrid system. Power will be transmitted to all four wheels via a motor/generator mounted on the rear axle. Reports suggest that the Toyota Corolla Cross SUV might make its way to India. If launched, it will be positioned against the Jeep Compass, MG Hector and the upcoming Honda HR-V.
