Toyota Hilux Pickup Truck Being Evaluated For India

Toyota is considering its globally popular Hilux pickup truck for the Indian market. The model, that’s renowned for its capabilities and reliability, would serve as a brand builder in the country. The Toyota Hilux pickup truck has been designed on the IMV (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle) platform that also underpins the Innova Crysta MPV and Fortuner SUV. The architecture uses a ladder frame chassis construction and supports RWD (rear-wheel-drive)/ 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system.

Measuring 5,285mm in length, the new Hilux pickup truck is 490mm and 550mm longer than the Fortuner and Innova Cyrsta respectively. The model measures 1,815mm in width and 1,855mm in height and sits on a 3,085mm long wheelbase. Its ground clearance stands at 279mm. Recently, the Japanese carmaker revealed the 2021 Toyota Hilux with better comfort, fuel economy, performance and towing and equipment.

The oil burner delivers a maximum power of 201bhp and 500Nm of torque. The model also comes with the 2.4L turbo diesel and 2.7L petrol engines along with 4X2 and 4X4 drivertrain systems. The Hilux model lineup has been offered with three gearbox options. As of now, the specifications of the India-spec model are not available.
