The SUV sales have been increased up to 34% in Q1 CY2021 in the country. It’s the all time high. Most of the car manufacturers have planned to expand their SUV lineup in coming years including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Toyota and Nissan. We already have multiple options in the mini, sub-4 meter, mid-size and fully-flagged SUV segments. Though, the bigger 7-seater SUVs/MPVs are more practical options for the joint or big Indian families. Here’s a brief on the existing 7-seater family cars (SUVs/MPVs) that will cost you under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
Datsun GO+ – Rs 4.25 Lakh
Datsun GO+ is the most affordable 7-seater utility vehicle in the country. The model lineup is spread across four trims – D, A, A(O), T and T (O) – which have been priced from Rs 4.25 lakh to Rs 6.99 lakh. The MPV received the BS6-complaint 1.2L petrol engine that can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. Its power and torque figures stand at 77bhp and 104Nm respectively.
Maruti Suzuki Eeco – Rs 4.37 Lakh
The Indo-Japanese carmaker introduced the BS6-compliant Maruti Suzuki Eeco early last year. The MPV comes in four variants and two seating configurations – 5 and 7-seats. Its entry-level 5-seater Std variant is currently available at Rs 4.08 lakh and the 7-seater Std model costs Rs 4.37 lakh. Powering the vehicle is a 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol engine that’s good enough for 73bhp and 101Nm of torque. It’s also available with CNG fuel option.
Renault Triber – Rs 5.30 Lakh
Renault Triber is one of the most practical 7-seater vehicles that comes with flexible seating arrangement. It has been offered with 4 seating modes – Camping mode (2-seater), Surfing mode (4-seater), Life mode (5-seater), Tribe mode (7-seater). At present, the MPV is available within the price range of Rs 5.30 lakh – Rs 7.82 lakh. For power, the model uses a 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engine that pushes out a maximum power of 70bhp and 96Nm of torque. Both manual and AMT gearboxes are on offer.
Mahindra Bolero – Rs 7.64 Lakh
Mahindra Bolero is the top-selling SUV from the home-grown carmaker in the country. The SUV is being offered in four variants – B2, B4, B6 and B6 (O) – priced at Rs 7.64 lakh, Rs 8.17 lakh, Rs 8.88 lakh and Rs 9.14 lakh respectively. Powering the Bolero is the 1.5L oil burner delivering a top power of 75bhp and 210Nm of torque. Transmission duties are performed by a 5-speed manual gearbox. It comes with the 2WD (two-wheel-drive) system.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga – Rs 7.81 Lakh
Maruti Ertiga has always been favoured for its spacious interior, efficient engines and practicality. It has been dominating the MPV segment ever since its launch. Except the top-end ZXI AT variant that costs Rs 10.59 lakh, the Ertiga can be had within the price range of Rs 7.81 lakh – Rs 9.91 lakh. Under the hood, the model features a 1.5L petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid technology. The motor returns a claimed power of 105bhp and 138Nm of torque. There are two gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
