The second-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which was launched in November 2018, has crossed the 5.5 lakh sales milestone in the country. Attributes such as spacious cabin, practicality and efficient engines have worked in its favour. At present, the Maruti Ertiga comes in the price range of Rs 7.59 lakh (for the entry-level LXi variant) – Rs 10.13 lakh (for the ZXi AT variant). Powering the new Maruti Ertiga is an all-new 1.5L petrol motor that also does duty in the Ciaz sedan. The gasoline unit has been boosted with Suzuki’s SHVS hybrid technology that’s claimed to offer better fuel economy. The petrol engine delivers a top power of 105bhp at 6,000rpm and 138Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. There are two gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. The Ertiga also comes with the CNG kit.
Features such as Maruti Suzuki’s SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors with camera, push button start/stop, a height adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and 15-inch alloys are reserved for the top-end Z+ trims. While all variants get dual airbags and ABS, the electronic stability program (ESP) and hill-hold function are available only on the automatic variants. The new-generation Maruti Ertiga has been designed on the Heartect platform that also underpins a range of Maruti cars including the Swift hatchback, Dzire compact sedan, Ignis mini SUV and Baleno premium hatchback. The new architecture makes the MPV 10-20kg lighter than its previous model. The overall length, width and height of the MPV stand at 4,395mm, 1,735mm and 1,690mm respectively, It has a 2,740mm long wheelbase and a fuel tank capacity of 45-litre. The MPV comes in 5 colour options, namely, Metallic Magma Grey, Pearl Metallic Oxford Blue, Pearl Arctic White, Metallic Silky Silver and Pearl Metallic Auburn Red.
