5 New Mahindra Electric Vehicles To Launch In 2021

Mahindra is planning to expand its Indian EV (electric vehicle) product portfolio by 2025 with an investment of around Rs 1,700 crore. Furthermore, the company has given out Rs 500 crore for a new R&D centre for EVs, called Global Electric Vehicle Technology Centre. In 2021, the home-grown carmaker will launch 5 new electric vehicles including the updated Mahindra Treo, Mahindra Treo Zor, Mahindra eKUV100, Mahindra Atom and Mahindra eXUV300.

The new Mahindra Treo and Treo Zor, the upcoming electric cargo three-wheelers, will hit roads early next year. The carmaker says that the Treo has over 20 new, in-house EV components along with the extended range and solar roof. Based on the MESMA 48, the Mahindra Treo Zor comes with an IP67-rated motor that’s good for 8kW and 42Nm of torque. The three-wheeler also has a 7.37kWh 48V lithium ion battery pack. It offers an electric range of up to 125km on a single charge.

Mahindra eKUV100 Launch

Priced at Rs 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Mahindra eKUV100 will be the most affordable electric SUV in the country. It will arrive at showrooms by the end of January, 2021. The mini SUV features a 15.9kWh lithium ion battery pack with an electric motor. The latter makes power worth 40kW and 120Nm of torque. Its battery pack takes 55 minutes to get charge up to 80% via a fast charger. Initially, the company will target the fleet operators.

Mahindra Atom, the new electric quadricycle from the home-grown carmaker, will see a release by the end of April, 2021. It will be India’s most affordable electric four-wheeler. The Atom will also be the first electric vehicle in its segment to offer three and four seat configurations. Touted as green last-mile connectivity vehicle, the quadricycle will come with features such as large glass, easy luggage loading and extra cabin space.

Mahindra eXUV300 subcompact SUV will come towards the end of 2021. The model will be offered in two variants – standard and long-range – promising range of 200km and 350-400km respectively. It will be the first production vehicle to be based on the MESMA 350 (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture 350) platform. It will come with 350V powertrain, electric motors range from 60kW to 280kW and batteries up to 80kW capacities. Its exterior and interior will be slightly different from the regular ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) model.
