New Mahindra Thar Prices Increase From 1st December

Prices of the new-generation Mahindra Thar are set to be increased from 1st December, 2020 (i.e. tomorrow). The carmaker has already sent mails and notified its existing customers about the price hike. The updated prices will be effective for the fresh bookings. Customers who have already booked the new Mahindra Thar will get it at the launch price. The off-road SUV was offered an introductory price of Rs 9.80 lakh (for the entry-level AX variant) – Rs 13.75 lakh (for the top-end variant).

One must note that the carmaker recently removed the entry-level AX Std petrol, AX petrol and AX diesel variants from the model lineup. The new Thar is available in the price range of Rs 11.90 lakh – Rs 13.75 lakh that will be soon updated. Aforementioned prices are ex-showroom. Currently, the off-road SUV commands a waiting period of up to 7 months. In order to reduce it, the company aims to produce 3,000 units per month from January, 2021. The new-generation Thar has been sold out till May, 2021.

2020 Mahindra Thar Booking Amount

Recently, the 2020 Mahindra Thar was subjected to the Global NCAP crash tests and managed to score 4 star rating for adult and child occupants. The tested model was equipped with dual front airbags, electronic stability control and other basic safety fitments. The off-road SUV also meets the side impact UN 95 regulation. In fact, the body structure of the new Thar was rated as stable.

The new generation of the Mahindra Thar comes with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol model uses a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged motor making power worth 152bhp and 300Nm (MT)/320Nm (AT). The diesel version is powered by a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged unit pushing out a peak power of 132bhp and 300Nm of torque. Both engines can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. All variants of the off-road SUV get a 4×4 system and a manual-shift transfer case with a low ratio as standard fitment.
