Maruti Suzuki India is ready to give a generation change to the Celerio hatchback during this festive season. Ahead of its official launch, its all-new model has been caught testing for the first time. The prototype was heavily camouflaged covering all its design details. Though, the 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio seems to be bigger and higher than the current generation. Its wheelbase is likely to be stretched slightly that will translate into a more cabin space. One of the major changes will be made to its underpinning. The 2020 Maruti Celerio will ditch the existing platform for the Suzuki’s new Heartect platform that’s claimed to provide improved NVH levels, better handling and safety.
The spy pictures confirm that the new Celerio will carry more SUV-ish stance rather than the hatchback. We expect it to get new projector headlamps with LED DRLs, more pronounced bumpers, newly-designed alloy wheels, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators and revised LED taillamps. Comprehensive changes are likely to be made inside the cabin as well. The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Celerio could be offered with Suzuki’s SmarPlay Studio infotainment system with latest smartphone connectivity. It might also come with a reverse camera, new seat upholstery and a few more goodies.
Features such as double-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, electronically adjustable ORVMs, central locking with keyless entry, tilt adjustable steering, height adjustable driver’s seat, anti-theft security system and dual airbags will be carried over from the current model. No changes are likely to be made under the hood. The 2020 Maruti Celerio hatchback might come with the same 1.0L, 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that’s good enough for 66bhp and 90Nm.
Both 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes will also be on offer. Its current generation model delivers a claimed mileage of 21.63kmpl. Though, these figures might changes if the new Celerio gets lighter due to new platform. The hatchback will also be available with CNG kit.
