5 Upcoming Kia Seltos Rival SUVs to Debut at Auto Expo 2020
Kia Motors entered the Indian auto industry with the Seltos SUV in August 2019. The SUV has received overwhelming response from buyers and has become one of the best-selling SUVs currently on sale in India. In fact, the Kia Seltos outsmarted the segment-leader – Hyundai Creta in terms of sales. However, things could change soon as automakers are ready with their mid-sized SUVs to take on the Kia Seltos. Here is a list of 5 mid-sized SUVs that will debut at the 2020 Auto Expo –
2020 Hyundai Creta
Korean automaker, Hyundai will unveil the second-generation Creta SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. Based on the new Chinese ix25, the new Hyundai Creta comes with India-specific changes and features less flashy design. It will borrow the interior with the Chinese sibling. The SUV will share the mechanics with the Seltos. It will be offered with 3 engine options – a 1.5-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol.
Skoda Vision IN
Czech automaker, Skoda has confirmed that the Vision IN SUV concept will make public debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. It will be the first model to be based on the locally developed MQB AO IN platform, which will underpin a wide range of VW and Skoda products in India. The SUV is likely to be offered with 2 engine options – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol.
Volkswagen T-Cross
German automaker, Volkswagen will also showcase its wide range of products at the 2020 Auto Expo including the made-in-India mid-sized SUV. The SUV will be based on the MQB AO IN platform and will be launched in the first half of 2021. The new model will share the mechanics with the Skoda Vision IN concept based SUV.
Haval H4
Chinese automaker, Great Wall Motors has confirmed to showcase the Haval SUV and Ora electric brands at the 2020 Auto Expo. The company will showcase the Haval H4, H6 and H9 SUVs at the auto event out of which, the H4 will rival the Kia Seltos. In the Chinese market, the SUV is available with 2 turbocharged petrol engines – a 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
MG Baojun RS-3
Buoyed by excellent response for Hector, MG Motors is now ready to launch a wide range of SUVs in India over the period of next 1-2 years. The company is also expected to unveil an all-new mid-sized SUV, which is likely to be based on the Baojun RS-3. The new SUV will directly rival the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. It is powered by a 104bhp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine matched with a continuously variable transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox.
