Yamaha XSR 155 Retro-Styled Motorcycle Officially Unveiled

We informed you earlier that Yamaha is readying 2 brand new XSR cafe racer motorcycles, which will be based on the R15 and the R3. The company has now introduced the new Yamaha XSR 155 retro-styled motorcycle, which joins the Yamah XSR family of retro classic. The XSR motorcycles are known for their retro-modern styling and technology. 

The Yamaha XSR 155 Cafe Racer has finally been launched in Thailand at Rs 91,500 bahts (approximately Rs 2 lakh). The new motorcycle will go on sale in other South Asian markets as well. Yamaha is already selling the R15 V3 and the MT-15 motorcycles in our market. We believe that this model could arrive in our market in near future as the demand for such motorcycles are on rise.

The Yamaha XSR 155 cafe racer is based on the R15 V3 platform, which also underpins the MT-15 street fighter. So, it will be easy for the Japanese brand to manufacture the retro classic motorcycle locally. The new motorcycle also comes with a set of accessories, which can be transformed into the scrambler. The Yamaha XSR 155 retro bike rides on a 1,330mm wheelbase and has a ground clearance of 170mm. It has a kerb weight of 134kg. Based on the Delta box frame, the new cafe racer is 805mm in width, 2000mm in length and 1,080mm in height, and has a saddle height of 810mm.  Suspension mechanism comprises of telescopic front forks and rear monoshock.

It rides on 17-inch wheels shod with 110/70 and 140/70 section front and rear tyres respectively. Braking system comprise of disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS system as standard. The Yamaha XSR 155 is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder, SOHC, liquid-cooled engine with fuel injection system. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, this engine is capable of producing 19bhp of power and 14.7Nm of torque. Styling of the Yamaha XSR 155 is inspired by the bigger XSR 700 and the XSR 900 motorcycles.

Some of the design highlights include single seat, round-shaped LED headlamps, LED tail-lamps, full LCD digital meter, dual purpose tire and tear-drop fuel tank.  The Yamaha XSR 155 is available in 4 colour options – 80s Sport Heritage (White and Red), Premium (Silver with tan-brown leather seat cover), Elegance (Black) and Wanderlust (Olive Green).
