Skoda Octavia RS, Rapid Monte Carlo Coming This Month, Kodiaq By Q4

Out of the three models, the Rapid Monte Carlo Edition and Octavia RS will be launched this month.

Skoda India today revealed launch plans of its upcoming models Rapid Monte Carlo Edition, Octavia RS and Kodiaq at a launch event in Mumbai. Out of the three models, the Rapid Monte Carlo Edition and Octavia RS will be launched this month, while the deliveries will begin from September. On the other hand, Skoda’s highly anticipated Kodiaq SUV will break covers by the fourth quarter of this year. At the event, the company also spoke about MySkodaApp to make its aftersales and service process more customer friendly.

Based on the Superb platform, the seven-seater SUV will ride on 2,700mm long wheelbase translating into a spacious cabin with 2,005-litres of boot space with second and third row folded. It will measure 4,697mm long, 1,882mm wide and will get 190mm of ground clearance. Additionally, the SUV will be able to wade through 300mm of water. Under the hood, the Toyota Fortuner rival will feature a 2.0-litre unit. Among the features, expect Kodiaq to pack in a four-camera set-up, an infotainment system with Skoda Connect supported by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Skoda Octavia RS 2017

While the Octavia RS will be launched in both petrol and diesel options. The petrol-powered Octavia RS will get a 2.0-litre TSI unit and the diesel version will derive power from the 2.0-litre engine with a choice between a FWD and AWD drivetrain. Transmission options on the carline could either include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG auto box. The additional kit on the RS version will include LED headlamps, DRLs, fog lamps and taillamps.

Insides will feature a large 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. In terms of safety, the Octavia RS will come with nine airbags, ESP and park assist to name a few.

Coming to the Rapid Monte Carlo, it is based on the Rapid sedan sold in India, though it borrows cues from Monte Carlo, available in overseas markets. The exterior will get bold red shade, black finished grille and ORVMs. It will ride on the 16-inch alloys and will also get black finished tailgate spoiler. Interior will of the India-bound model will feature bits like a flat-bottomed multifunctional steering wheel, upholstery with red stitching on gear knob, aluminium scuff plates, faux carbon fibre trim on dashboard etc.

As for the engine set-up, the sedan will retain the 1.5-litre oil burner that does duty on Ameo. The petrol version will use the 1.6-litre unit. Transmission options will include a standard 5-speed MT along with a 6-speed AT unit and a 7-speed DSG AT gearbox .In terms of pricing, expect the Monte Carlo edition to cost Rs 30,000 over the regular model.
