2016 Hyundai Tucson has been spotted testing in Brazil ahead of its India launch this year. The third-generation Tucson was first unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, and made its India debut at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016. With Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner in its sight, Hyundai’s upcoming SUV is estimated to be priced between Rs 18 lakh – Rs 25 lakh. It will be positioned between the Creta compact SUV and Santa Fe.

The global model of the new Tucson is available with 3 powertrain options, though the India-bound model might get a 2.0-litre CRDi diesel engine. This oil burner is good enough to produce 175bhp of power and 402Nm of torque. It will get a 6-speed manual gearbox and FWD (four-wheel-drive) system. Moving to dimensions, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson measures 4,475mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,645mm (without roof rails) tall. Its wheelbase stands at 2,670mm.

Similar to the new-age Hyundai cars, the new Tucson follows an evolved Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy. It borrows a few design elements from the Santa Fe SUV. The car features twin LED headlights, silver skid plates, panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloys, LED tail lights, sculpted rear haunches and twin exhaust pipes. Inside the cabin are the features such as an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, 4.2-inch driver information display, ventilated front seats with 8-way electric adjustment, dual-zone automatic climate control, etc.

The list of safety features includes blind spot detection, electronic parking brake, autonomous emergency braking, static cornering lights, lane departure warning system with lane keep assist and tyre pressure monitoring system. The SUV comes with 5-seats layout, and offers the best-in-class cabin space.
