Bentley's first-ever SUV - Bentayga - is claimed to be the fastest, and most powerful and expensive SUV in the world.
The British Luxury carmaker, Bentley Motors has revealed specifications of its first diesel-powered car – Bentayga. As a reminder, the Bentley Bentayga petrol was introduced in India in May 2016. Powering the Bentayga diesel is a 4.0-litre, V8 triple-charged engine that has been developed jointly with Audi. This power mill gets two twin-scroll turbochargers coupled to an electrically driven supercharger. Bentayga’s first diesel powertrain produces 435bhp of power and 900Nm between 1000rpm – 3250rpm. It can accelerate 0-100kmph in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 270kmph.
Rolf Frech, Bentley’s Head of Engineering, said that its acceleration from 40kph to 121kph “is much the same as the W12’s, but the W12 gets a second wind at higher speeds”. The company’s Product Manager, Peter Guest, said: “We would only do this when it was right. It had to be the right car and the right engine. Installing a potentially coarse diesel in a Bentley is a risk, even if this powerplant’s instant low-rev torque provides the stream of effortless thrust required. The brief, said Guest, was to deliver the Bentley driving experience with the trademark combination of performance and luxury, and no compromise in refinement. It also had to be “the fastest diesel SUV in the world”.
Priced at Rs 3.85 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Bentley Bentayga petrol is the first-ever SUV from the British carmaker in India. The SUV is claimed to be the fastest, and most powerful and expensive SUV in the world. It was first showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Ex-showroom, Delhi – Rs 3.85 crores

Bentley’s first SUV comes with eight driving modes that enables driver to select the perfect settings for both rough and smooth terrains. What further enhance its on and off-road capabilities are Bentley’s Drive Dynamics Mode and optional Responsive Off-road Setting offering the widest range drive settings. The new Bentley SUV also comes loaded with high-tech driving features such as Bentley Dynamic Ride (electrically activated 48V active roll control), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) including Stop & Go, Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS), Traffic Sign Recognition, Predictive ACC and Traffic Assist, Park Assist, Electronic Night Vision and Rear Crossing Traffic Warning.

Bentley is also offering several personalisation options in exterior paints, interior trim hide and leathers, carpets, handrafted veneers, bespoke Bentayga alloys ranging from 20 to 22-inches, etc.
Power for the Bentley Bentayga comes from an all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine that is capable of putting out a whooping power of 600bhp at 5,000rpm- 6,000rpm and 900Nm of torque at 1,350rpm. This 12-cylinder powertrain can mark 100kmph from standstill in just 4.1 seconds, while maintaining a top-speed of 301kmph. With these outstanding power figures, the Bentayga becomes the most powerful and fastest SUV in the world. The SUV comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and AWD (all-wheel drive) system.
As mentioned above, the carmaker will introduce a 4-litre, V8 triple-charged diesel on the SUV. It will be Bentayga’s first diesel power mill that generates power worth 435bhp against 900Nm at 1000rpm – 3250rpm. The diesel version of the SUV will be able to do 0-100kmph in 4.8 seconds. It will have an electronic speed limit of 270kmph.
