Bentley Bentayga’s new 4.0-litre, V8 twin-turbo petrol engine makes 493bhp with 770Nm of torque.
Bentley Motors has added a new petrol model to its Bentayga SUV lineup in the UK. The new V8, 4.-litre twin turbocharged gasoline motor is good enough for 493.1bhp (500PS) and 770Nm. It can do 0-100kmph in just 4.5 seconds, while offering a claimed top speed of 290kmph. The Bentley Bentayga till now was only available with the 6.0-litre W12 twin-turbocharged petrol and the 4.0-litre, V8 triple-charged diesel powertrains. The new V8 petrol unit is the third engine option offered on the SUV.
Interestingly, the Bentayga’s new V8 petrol engine is claimed to the most fuel economical than other two powertrains. Its mileage figure stands at 10.54kmpl. Besides the new engine, the Bentley Bentayga V8 petrol model receives minor interior updates including high-gloss carbon fibre finish on the dashboard and other cabin panels, multiple seat configurations (four, five and seven) and wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel. While the largest front brake comes as standard, the 440mm carbon ceramic brakes are optional offerings.

Bentley Bentayga is the first-ever SUV from the British luxury carmaker in India. First previewed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, the SUV is available with a W12 petrol engine at Rs 3.85 crore (ex-showroom) in India. The company unveiled its diesel model with a 4.0L V8 motor in September, 2017. In the UK market, the new Bentayga V8 petrol model is priced at 163,000GBP (Rs 1.42 crore), thus making it 25,000GBP more affordable than the W12 petrol variant. Though, the company hasn’t yet confirmed the new V8 petrol model for the Indian market.
Talking about the Bentley Bentayga’s design, this ultra-luxury SUV has been designed, engineered and hand-crafted at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, UK. Face of the car has aggressive appeal – thanks to its large matrix grille, full LED adaptive headlamps with high beam assist, skid plate on lower front bumper, four distinctive floating all-LED head-lamps. Accentuating the side and rear profiles of the SUV are the bold side creases, a new ‘B’-shaped illumination graphic, B-shaped wing vents, rear haunch and segmented tail lights. Dimensionally, the car measures 5.14 metres in length, and has a wheelbase of around 3 metres.
Claimed to be the world’s most luxurious SUV, the Bentley Bentayga brims with several comfort and connectivity goodies such as an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system with 60GB HDD, voice control, navigation support and a choice of up to 30 languages, full-leather interior, acoustic IR front screen and acoustic side glass, split-folding heated rear 4+1 seats and panoramic tilt/ slide sunroof with electric blind. Interior of the new V8 petrol model has been tailored with wood and leather trimmed steering wheel, multiple seating configurations and high gloss carbon fibre finish on the dashboard and other panels.
Bentley is also offering several personalisation options in exterior paints, interior trim hide and leathers, carpets, handcrafted veneers, bespoke Bentayga alloys ranging from 20 to 22-inches, etc. The Bentley Bentley SUV comes with host of high-tech driving features such as Bentley Dynamic Ride (electrically activated 48V active roll control), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) including Stop & Go, Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS), Traffic Sign Recognition, Predictive ACC and Traffic Assist, Park Assist, Electronic Night Vision and Rear Crossing Traffic Warning.
Under the hood, the Bentley Bentayga houses an all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine producing a whooping power of 600bhp between 5,000rpm- 6,000rpm. The torque output of the motor stands at 900Nm at 1,350rpm. This 12-cylinder gasoline unit accelerates 100kmph from standstill in just 4.1 seconds with a claimed top-speed of 301kmph. With these outstanding power figures, the Bentayga becomes the second most powerful and fastest SUV in the world. The SUV comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and AWD (all-wheel drive) system.
On the other hand, the diesel model derives its power from a 4-litre, V8 triple-charged motor that makes 435bhp against 900Nm at 1000rpm – 3250rpm. Bentayga’s first diesel powertrain can mark 0-100kmph sprints in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 270kmph. Developed jointly with Audi, this power mill features two twin-scroll turbochargers coupled to an electrically driven supercharger.
In the UK, Bentley introduced the new 4.0-litre, V8 twin-turbo petrol engine churning out 493.1bhp and 770Nm of torque. This motor does 0-100kmph in 4.5 seconds, and offers a top speed of 290kmph. Bentley Bentayga comes with eight driving modes that enable driver to select the perfect settings for both rough and smooth terrains. What further enhance its on and off-road capabilities are Bentley’s Drive Dynamics Mode and optional Responsive Off-road Setting offering the widest range drive settings.
