Yamaha XSR125 Entry-Level Retro-Styled Motorcycle Unveiled

Yamaha has officially unveiled the new XSR125 entry-level retro-styled motorcycles for the European markets. The Yamaha XSR125 is scheduled to be launched in Europe in June 2021. It is based on the same platform that underpins the MT-125 and the R125. The motorcycle is not likely to be launched in India, as it will prove to be a costlier motorcycle for the price sensitive market.

The 2021 Yamaha XSR125 is a Euro 5-compliant motorcycle. It is powered by a 124cc liquid-cooled, single-overhead cam, single-cylinder engine that also powers the MT-125 and the R125. This engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 14.75bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 11.5Nm at 8,000rpm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

Suspension system comprises of 37mm USD front fork and a standard swingarm in the back. The motorcycle gets single 267mm front disc and 220mm rear disc brake. It rides on 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels wrapped with 110/70 and 140/70 section tyres at front and rear respectively.

In terms of proportions, the new Yamaha XSR125 is 1,960mm long, 800mm wide and 1,065mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 1,330mm. The motorcycle has a seat height of 815mm, while the ground clearance stands at 160mm. The XSR125 wet weight (full oil + fuel tank) is just 140kgs, and has a fuel tank of 11-litres.

The 2021 Yamaha XSR125 rides on the tried and tested Deltabox twin-spar frame, which is designed to be strong and light weight. The motorcycle shares design cues from the bigger XSR155 sibling. It gets the retro-styled circular headlamp, rounded fuel tank and long fat seat, and a oval-shaped tail-light.

The bike has full LED headlamp and LED tail-light. The motorcycle has exposed engine casing, radiator and other cycle parts. There’s a prominent engine guard, which gives it a tough look.

The motorcycle has retro-themed circular LCD meter, with satin background and outer chrome surround. It will be offered in 3 colour options – Redline, Impact Yellow, and Tech Black. It gets painted mudguards and tuck, along with roll seat and aluminium brackets.
