Mahindra To Discontinue Marazzo MPV & KUV100 NXT Micro SUV

Mahindra is working on multiple new products including the XUV900 SUV Coupe and the next-gen XUV500 5-seater. The company also plans to expand its electric range by introducing the eXUV300 and the eKUV100 by 2022. Mahindra will also phase out its slow-selling models from the Indian market.

According to the AutoCarIndia, Mahindra will discontinue the Marazzo MPV and the KUV100 NXT micro SUV. It will be a part of Mahindra’s plan to removing slow performing models and focusing on more lucrative areas of the market.

Mahindra Marazzo Front

The Mahindra Marazzo is a spacious 7-seater MPV, which comes fitted with a refined 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. The MPV offers high-end features, comfortable ride and spacious cabin; however, it fails to generate volumes for the brand. Since January 2021, Mahindra sold 711 units of the Marazzo. On the other hand, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki delivered 19,300 Innova’s and 37,286 units of Ertiga respectively.

It was speculated that Mahindra will introduce an upgraded version of the Marazzo, which is also reportedly cancelled. The MPV was planned to be equipped with a powerful 1.5-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine, which can produce up to 163bhp of power. This engine will be offered on the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 (S301) 5-seater SUV, which will be launched in 2024.

Mahindra KUV100 dual tone

Mahindra KUV100 NXT only managed a total sales of just 21 units in 2021. The company will discontinue the entry-level SUV from the market. Mahindra registered the XUV100 nameplate, which was rumoured to be the new entry-level micro SUV. However, the new report claims that it was done merely to secure the name. The company has no plans to re-enter the sub-compact micro SUV segment.

The Mahindra KUV100 NXT will live as an electric micro SUV, called the eKUV100. The new Mahindra eKUV100 is expected to be launched in the early 2022. It is claimed to offer a real-world range of 147km.  It will be powered by a 40kW electric motor that produces 53bhp of power and 120Nm of torque. The mini SUV has a 15.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and will come with standard and fast-charging options.
