Yamaha has launched the new MT 15 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Yamaha MT 15 MotoGP Edition comes with visual enhancement. The new edition is around Rs 1,400 costlier than the regular MT-15, which is priced at Rs 1,45,600. Interested buyers can pre-book the motorcycle online or at dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 2,000.

The Yamaha MT 15 MotoGP Edition comes with signature Monster Energy graphics on the fuel tank extensions. The MotoGP braning is added to the fuel tank shrouds, side panels and on the fuel tank. The prominent Yamaha logo is finished in golden paint. Except for these changes, the motorcycle looks identical to the standard bike. The motorcycle has LED projector headlamp and twin LED DRLs. The new variant is available in a single black colour option with Monster Energy MotoGP Edition graphics.

Powering the MT 15 MotoGP Edition is the same BS6-compliant 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The motor is capable to produce a maximum power of 18.3bhp and a peak torque of 14.1Nm, and is paired with a six-speed gearbox and the slipper and assist clutch.

The motorcycle derives its braking power from the front and rear hydraulic single disc brakes with a single channel ABS system. It is reported that the company is planning to introduce a dual-channel ABS system to MT-15. The suspension setup of the bike consists of telescopic forks upfront and swingram rear unit. It is equipped with features like side-stand engine cut off-switch, radial tyres, all-digital LCD instrument console and LED tail-lamp and turn indicators.

Yamaha MT 15 is based on the Deltabox frame that underpins the R15 V3.0. The company has already started working on the R15 Version 4.0, which has been spotted testing multiple times in India as well as in Indonesia. Adding to it, Yamaha has also trademarked the R2 name. This could be used for a new motorcycle to be positioned above the R15.
