The AMG GLE 63 S Coupe is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine that produces a massive 612bhp of power at 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 850Nm between 2,500-4,500rpm. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 3.8 seconds, which makes it the fastest SUV Coupe in Mercedes-Benz’s India portfolio. It is claimed to achieve an electronically limited top speed of 280kmph.

The 4.0L twin-turbo engine is also the first ever AMG V8 to feature the 48-volt EQ Boost hybrid system. This powertrain is fitted with an integrated EQ Boost starter-alternator. It combines a starter motor and an alternator in a single electric motor, integrated between the engine and transmission. The EQ Boost hybrid system offers an additional 22bhp of power and 250Nm of torque.

The engine is paired to an AMG Speedshift TCT 9G transmission, which is tuned to the requirements of the 8-cylinder engine. The SUV Coupe also gets the active roll stabilization system, which is called ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL. This stabilization system not only reduces body roll when cornering, but also allows more precise tuning of the cornering and load cycle properties. In addition, it increases ride comfort when driving in a straight line because stimuli by one-sided road bumps are balanced out.

The Mercedes-AMG has equipped its V8 engines with cylinder deactivation. In the partial-load range, cylinders two, three, five and eight are deactivated, which reduces the fuel consumption. When the driver has selected the “Comfort” drive program, the cylinder deactivation system kicks in a wide engine speed range, spanning 1000 to 3250 rpm.

The AMG GLE 63 S Coupe comes fitted with a bespoke grille and a restyled front fascia, featuring a large splitter finished in silver chrome and black air intakes. It gets chrome-finished ‘Panamerica’ grille and raised ‘powerdomes’ in the bonnet. It gets a steeper windscreen and rear window, a black rear diffuser, a bespoke AMG twin-exit exhaust system and 22-inch alloy wheel.

The interior of the AMG model is identical to the standard model. It gets two 12.3-inch screens – for the infotainment and instrument console. The vehicle has an AMG-spec 3-spoke steering wheel, aluminium shift paddles, AMG-specific Nappa Leather wrapped seats, etc.
