Yamaha Motor India recently released a teaser of its upcoming Aerox 155 maxi-scooter that’s scheduled to launch tomorrow (21st September 2021). Prices of the vehicle will be announced during a virtual launch event. The new 2021 Yamaha R15 M will also be unveiled on the same day. Talking about the Yamaha Aerox 155, it will be the first maxi scooter from the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer in the country. The upcoming scooter is likely to be offered with the R15’s 155cc engine. The single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor pushes out a peak power of 15PS at 8,000rpm and 13.9Nm of torque at 6,500rpm.
Compared to the Aprilia SXR160 that comes with the 10.9PS, 160cc engine, the Aerox 155 will be more powerful. The braking system of the new Yamaha maxi scooter includes single disc and drum brake at the front and rear axles respectively. A single-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) could be offered as standard. It comes equipped with the 14-inch wheels and 110/80 front and 140/70 section rear tyres. For performing suspension duties, the new Yamaha 155cc scooter has telescopic forks upfront and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
The new Yamaha 155cc scooter carries a kerb weight of 125kgs and offers a fuel tank of 5.5-litres. The overall length, width and height of the scooter stand at 1980mm, 700mm and 1150mm respectively. It sits on a 1350mm long wheelbase. In terms of features, the new Yamaha Aerox 155 maxi-scooter offers Yamaha’s Y-Connect that enables to rider to connect smartphone via application to monitor multiple functions such as mileage, parking location, battery level, malfunction notifications and maintenance intervals.
The scooter has a fully digital instrument cluster featuring speedometer, tachometer, fuel level, clock and display more information. The Aerox 155 maxi scooter offers all LED lighting system along with traction control system and keyless ingnition.
The Yamaha Aerox 155 scooter could be the most expensive scooter from the two-wheeler maker in India. The maxi-scooter is estimated to cost around Rs 1.3 lakh – Rs 1.4 lakh (ex-showroom).
