Ola Electric Scooter Purchase Window To Re-open On 1st Nov

Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters were unveiled on 15th August in the country. While the former has been made available at Rs 99,999, the latter one costs Rs 1,29,999. The aforementioned prices are ex-showroom, including FAME II subsidy only. The new Ola electric scooter went on sale on 15th September and within 2 days the company sold units worth Rs 1,100 crore.

Deliveries of the e-scooter will begin in October. Its first batch has already been sold out in the country. Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal confirmed that the purchase window will reopen on November 1, 2021. Though, the online bookings will remain open at Rs 499.

For power, the Ola electric scooter uses a ‘Hyperdrive motor’ that returns a claimed power of 8.5kW. The S1 variant can go 0 to 40kmph in 33.6 seconds and attain a top speed of 90kmph. The Ola S1 Pro accelerates 0 to 40kmph in 3 seconds and delivers a maximum speed of 115kmph. It gets a 3.97kWh battery pack and has three riding modes – Normal, Sport and Hyper. The top-end S1 Pro has been made available in 10 colour options and three extra features – hill hold system cruise control and voice assistant.

Both variants have been equipped with single-sided suspension and disc brakes. The new Ola electric scooter rides on 110/70-R12 MRF front and rear tyres. Some of its key features include all-LED lighting, a large TFT display, a reverse mode and a proximity unlock.

The Ola S1 and S1 Pro come with a portable home charger that charge in 4.48 hours and 6.30 hours respectively. The company is working on developing ‘Ola Hypercharger network’ with 1 lakh locations across 400 cities. It will enable customers charge their e-scooters in 18 minutes for a range of 75km.
