Waiting Period of India’s 10 Top-Selling SUVs – Listed

Are you planning to buy a new car? And don’t you want to wait for months to get it delivered? Well, this is not going to happen, as most of the top-selling cars and SUVs command months of waiting, all thanks to the prolonged semiconductor shortage and supply constraints. If you don’t have much patience and want to go for a vehicle with a minimum waiting period, just take a look at the list of waiting periods for India’s top-selling SUVs.

Please note that the waiting period will vary variant, colour, dealer, state-wise.

Toyota Hyryder – up to 20 months

Toyota’s strong hybrid midsize SUV – Hyryder – is currently available with a waiting period of up to 20 months. The model comes with the 1.5L K15C petrol and Toyota’s 1.5L Atkinson Cycle powertrain options. The latter one has a 177.6V lithium-ion battery and offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl.  

Mahindra Scorpio N – 18 months

The Scorpio N is one of the top-selling SUVs from the home-grown automaker in India. At present, it commands a waiting period of 18 months. In order to reduce waiting period of its SUVs, Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to ramp up its production capacity to 49,000 units per month by the end of 2023.

The Thar’s 2WD diesel variants, which are high-in demand, has a waiting period of up to 17 months. Though, the SUV’s petrol model comes with a waiting period of 1 month.

Mahindra XUV700 – up to 12 months

The carmaker has 78,000 pending orders for the Mahindra XUV700. The SUV is getting average bookings of 8,000 units per month. It holds a waiting period of up to 12 months (i.e. around a year).

Maruti Brezza – up to 10 months

Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza is observing a waiting period of up to 10 months. The SUV model lineup is available with a total of 15 variants and two fuel options – petrol and CNG.

Hyundai Creta – up to 7 months

The Hyundai Creta is being promised to be delivered within 7 months from its date of booking. The model, which is dominating the midsize SUV segment, will receive a heavy update in early 2024.

Maruti Grand Vitara – up to 6 months

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is one of the top-selling strong hybrid cars in the country. Currently, it has a waiting period of up to 6 months. The SUV comes in 17 variants, packed with 1.5L K15C petrol and Toyota’s 1.5L Atkinson Cycle powertrains.

Hyundai Venue – up to 6 months

Hyundai Venue that received an update earlier this year, commands a waiting period of up to 6 months.

Tata Nexon – up to 3 months

Tata Nexon Waiting Period

Despite being India’s top-selling SUV, the Tata Nexon has the lowest waiting period – i.e. up to 3 months. The subcompact SUV is ready to receive a mid-life update in August 2023.

Kia Seltos – up to 3 months

Kia Seltos is observing a waiting period of up to 3 months. In the next couple of months, the SUV will get a significant change in terms of design and features.
