Toyota Hyryder Strong-Hybrid – Which Variant Offers The Most Value?

Toyota India has recently forayed into the mid-size SUV segment with the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Co-developed by Toyota and Maruti Suzuki, the Hyryder is essentially the same as the Grand Vitara. Only their exterior styling, variant assortment, prices and standard warranty packages differ between the two.

  • Like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Toyota Hyryder also comes with the same 1.5-litre Suzuki-developed Dualjet petrol engine paired with a mild hybrid system; and a 1.5-litre TNGA petrol with a strong hybrid from the house of Toyota. Among the two machines, the strong hybrid offers the best fuel economy of up to 27.97kmpl. With claimed economies over 20kmpl, the mild hybrids aren’t far behind either.
  • The mild-hybrid unit is standard across the variant lineup, whereas the strong-hybrid mill is offered on the S, G and V trims.
  • The AWD drivetrain option is restricted only to the range-topping V variant with the mild-hybrid manual powertrain.

Dimensions

In terms of dimensions, the Toyota Hyryder is 4365mm long, 1795mm wide and 1645mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2600mm and the segment’s largest ground clearance of 210mm. Compared to its sibling rival, the Grand Vitara, the Hyryder is 20mm longer.
