Volkswagen Virtus Shapes Up Nicely In A Rendering – Honda City Fighter

Volkswagen is working on a mid-size sedan that will enter into production in February or March 2022. Its market launch is scheduled to happen towards the end of April or early May 2022. Called the Volkswagen Virtus, the sedan will be based on the Made-in-India MQB A0 IN platform that also underpins the VW Taigun. Skoda’s Kushaq SUV and the upcoming Slavia sedan are also designed on the same architecture. In India, the Virtus sedan will come as a replacement to the Vento.

The model is currently in its testing phase and caught on camera multiple times. While its official arrival is months away, a latest digital rendering previews a possible design of its production model. The rendered Virtus shares a strong resemblance to the upcoming Skoda Slavia. Its rear and side profiles look exactly similar to its cousin. Though, the front fascia has been designed differently.

The VW Virtus carries the familiar narrow grille with sweptback headlamps and LED DRLs. A chrome strip is running on the lower section of the grille. Its neatly designed bonnet is slightly pronounced. The fog lamp assembly and alloy wheels seem borrowed from the Slavia sedan. Compared to its replacement (Vento), the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus will be significantly bigger. Its overall length, width and height stand at 4482mm, 1751mm and 1472mm respectively. In fact, it sits on 98mm longer wheelbase (measuring 2553mm).

Interior of the new Volkswagen sedan will share several features with the Taigun SUV. It’s expected to be packed with a 10.25-inch VW Play infotainment system, automatic climate control and a fully digital instrument cluster.

Under the hood, the new Volkswagen Virtus might house the Vento’s 1.0L TSI turbo petrol engine that’s good for 110bhp. It might also come with the 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol motor pushing out 150bhp and 250Nm. There could be three gearboxes on offer – 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque convertor automatic and 7-speed DSG automatic.
